Hraparak: Maxim Hakobian wants to nominate nephew at precinct #38
Following the appointment of Vahe Hakobian as governor of Syunik province, a by-election at electoral precinct #38 in Syunik will be held on September 29, but there is still no certainty regarding candidates.
“In any case, the Republican Party of Armenia is waiting for the end of Serzh Sargsyan’s vacation and his decision. The name of Arnold Hakobian, who is the newly-appointed governor’s cousin, is mentioned. Rumors persist that both Vahe and his father, the director of Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Enterprise Maxim Hakobian, want this,” the daily says.
“Don’t ask me questions about what is untrue,” Maxim Hakobian said in response to the question of ‘Hraparak’s correspondent.
As regards other political forces, ARFD is going to field former mayor of Kapan Arthur Atayan as its candidate, while Prosperous Armenia Party is still discussing the issue and has not yet made a decision. In all likelihood, Heritage Party will nominate Zaruhi Postanjian. “Zaruhi is said to like Syunik, while Synik residents are fond of her,’” the paper notes.
