YSU has no plans to review decision on tuition fee increase
In connection with tuition fee increases, ‘Hraparak’ had a talk with Rector of Yerevan State University (YSU) Aram Simonian. Asked if he is not concerned that a civil struggle against tuition fee increases may also start soon, the rector replied: “I am concerned because in this way they will start messing up the university system, which cannot survive without money and shall be financed from somewhere”.
Asked by ‘Hraparak’ if they have plans to review the decision or to reduce tuition fees partly, the YSU rector said: ‘The decision was taken by the University Council. It was a mild decision about a small increase of the fee”. In response to the question about the reason for not increasing students’ scholarships, Aram Simonian said: “It is a problem of the state which grants scholarships. If they had resources, they would raise scholarships”.
