Hraparak: Is there any difference between rectors and bus line owners?
‘Hraparak’ comments on the tuition fees increases: “Rectors of some universities believe that a fee increase by 50-100 thousand drams is not large and will not hit students in their pockets. This news seems very interesting against the backdrop of the recent public transport fare hikes. Calculations show that the annual public transport expenses of a student increase by 36,500 AMD at most - so an increase of fee by 50-100 AMD cannot be called small.
No one can guarantee that even if the tuition fees double, we will have universities in line with international standards. Can Armen Ashotian and rectors guarantee it? Naturally, they cannot. Is there any difference between such rectors and the bus line owners who are ready to slip their hand into one’s pocket to ensure a super profit?” the paper asks.
