Police arrest people attempting to sell child

On August 5, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department, the Main Investigation Department on Fight against Organized Crime, the security unit of Yerevan Metro, and the Lori regional police unit detained Anna E., Geghetsik V., 52, Serine A., 28, Narek M., 40, and Arshaluys G., 58, on suspicion of conducting a child’s sale transaction. The mentioned group of people entered into previous collusion with the foreign citizen Alla H. and came to an agreement to sell a girl, 4-year-old Rima A., to that woman for $15,000.

In accordance with the agreement, on August 5 Geghetsik V. received $7,000 for the child and Alla H. was to give the remaining sum - $8,000 to Geghetsik V. soon, Armenian police said.

A criminal case was opened under Article 168 part 1 of the Criminal Code. Anna E. and Geghetsik V. were arrested. An investigation is being conducted.
