Kivirian: You may become a suspect in 5 minutes
During a meeting with reporters today, the activist and lawyer Argishti Kivirian said that he should be recognized as least as a victim and that he is not aware of his status as a person summoned to the Special Investigation Service.
“I was invited in connection with the criminal case opened under Article 316 of the Criminal Code, based on a complaint of a policeman. It presupposes violence against an official. I was not told anything about my status, but I suppose I was invited as a witness, but in Armenian reality you may become a suspect in 5 minutes and an accused person 10 minutes later. Anyone who is familiar with the sphere knows that everyone summoned there has this status,” Kivirian noted.
He added that about 30 lawyers came to support him.
Let us remind you that after an argument between policemen and Argishti Kivirian who coordinates Armenia Today information website (the incident occurred on Kievian Street in Yerevan on August 24), the police opened a criminal case under Article 316 (violence against a representative of authorities) of Armenia’s Criminal Code.
