Hayots Ashkharh: Autumn will not be hot in political sense
In an interview with ‘Hayots Ashkharh’, Deputy Director of Caucasus Institute, political scientist Sergei Minasian has discussed the internal political situation in Armenia. According to him, ‘there is no real opposition in Armenia. Following the election phase over the past year, there is a situation when the next elections will be held in four years, while the opposition has been defeated”.
Commenting on the rumors that a ‘hot political autumn’ is expected, S. Minasian said that until recently social tension was displayed or realized through political forces, including radical opposition, but there is no such thing now. This explains the current unprecedented ‘escalation’ of civil movements. In Minasian’s words, “it is not visible how to find a way out and restore a standard, classical political ‘status quo’. Based on all this, I think no serious changes will occur in the domestic political field in the autumn”.
