Hraparak: Tense atmosphere within HAK faction
The current National Assembly of Armenia is notable for constant conflicts and boycotts within its parliamentary factions. The atmosphere is especially tense in Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction. Faction deputies Nikol Pashinian and Hrant Bagratian did not attend HAK sitting yesterday. Yet the sitting took place and even issued a statement condemning recent acts of violence against activists. Chairwoman of Social Democrat Hunchak Party Lyudmila Sargsyan told ‘Hraparak’ daily: “As far as I know, they are out of town. The rest of the faction members attended the sitting”.
As is known, the abovementioned two men have almost severed ties with HAK faction led by Levon Zurabian in recent months, even though both Bagratian and Pashinian are among the most active deputies of the National Assembly – they have made numerous speeches and authored many bills, the daily says. “I have no information about any disagreement or a new situation. Everything is the same,” L. Sargsyan said.
