Haykakan Zhamanak: Stefan Fule to visit Armenia
‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily writes citing its sources that European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule’s visit to Armenia is scheduled for September 12. Final corrections have to be made to the EU Association Agreement.
Asked by the paper if Fule’s visit will take place on September 12 after Serzh Sargsyan has made a statement about Armenia’s joining the Customs Union, the EU Office spokeswoman Anahit Azatian said: “Stefan Fule will visit Armenia on September 12-13 in order to participate in the 3rd unofficial ministerial dialog of Eastern Partnership member states to be held in Yerevan”.
Fule’s spokesman Peter Stano also told the paper that Fule will arrive in Armenia on September 12. “Prior to that, various EU officials are trying to get explanations regarding Armenia’s decision to enter the Customs Union. With this aim Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Artak Zakarian and Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Deputy Chairman Armen Ashotian will visit Brussels today,” the daily writes.
