Hraparak: Structural changes made in government
According to the Armenian government decision No 857 of July 25, the State Hygienic and Epidemic Inspection of Health Ministry was merged with the State Labor Inspection of Labor and Social Affairs Ministry. The new agency will be called State Health Inspection, with the health minister being in charge of it.
‘Hraparak’ writes that the action was part of a consolidation program which caused discontent as staff reduction is expected. Employees of two spheres cannot understand what connection exists between the two inspections that perform different functions. In particular, employees of the Labor Inspection believe that in this way an inspection which was the only one to ‘defend the interests of ordinary workers’ was closed. Inspectors say their agency bothered employers, most of whom are government members or parliamentary deputies.
