Hraparak: Commissioner Fule to arrive in Armenia
European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan File will arrive in Armenia tomorrow in order to discuss the present situation and develop a new agenda of ‘association’ relating to humanitarian sphere, including education and other ‘safe directions’, since the European Union has no intention of completely renouncing the ‘pro-Russian’ Armenia, ‘Hraparak’ daily writes.
Asked by the daily’s correspondent what fate awaits the Association Agreement due to be initialed in November of this year, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Artak Zakarian replied: “I think it will not be initialed because there is no such issue on Armenia’s agenda today. The matter concerns cooperation on the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area with the EU as Armenia announced its decision to join the Customs Union. Our partners in the EU say they see some contradictions in the current circumstances. So there is currently a situation, in which some issues need to be clarified. We are prepared to work with EU partners so as to find points of contact, based on which it will be possible to form a new agenda of cooperation”.
