Prosecutor general and US ambassador sign amendment
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern and Prosecutor General of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepian signed today the 15th amendment to the agreement on cooperation on drug control and in legal sphere between the United States and Armenia. Armenia will receive additional $2.2 million for the implementation of a number of reforms in the court and legal system.
Following the signing ceremony, Aghvan Hovsepian left the building of the Prosecutor General‘s Office and spoke to reporters who gathered outside the Office.
“I have worked in prosecutor’s office for 40 years, heading this structure in the last 15 years. I bless my starts that I had the honor to hold such a high position and serve our statehood,” Hovsepian said.
In his words, all these years he has done his best to deal with all problems within legal boundaries.
“I would like to thank the Armenian people, government, National Assembly, my colleagues, heads of international organizations, my family, and you, dear reporters. I have carried out my duties thanks to your assistance,” Hovsepian said.
Asked if he is going to continue his public activities, Hovsepian replied he will become even more active. “We will work together,” he said amid applause.
