SIS quashes Armen Martirosian beating case
Armen Martirosian’s beating case, which was opened after policemen used violence against Martirosian in public on April 9 – President Serzh Sargsyan’s inauguration day, has been quashed. The criminal case was opened under Armenian Criminal Code’s Article 309 part 2 (exceeding of official authority, accompanied by violence).
Deputy chairman of Heritage Party Armen Martirosian told ‘Zhoghovurd’ daily that he recently received a letter from the RA Special Investigation Service (SIS) informing him that the case was quashed due to a change in the situation.
It is not clear what change in the situation has taken place in our country. Perhaps something has changed in the SIS? But the fact is that the policemen who beat up Martirosian in broad daylight enjoy impunity.
Unable to suppress the well-known facts, the SIS decided to ‘change the situation’. Everything is clear to Armen Martirsian as he was told that two policemen had been dismissed after the incident.
