Zhoghovurd: HAK activist to be released under amnesty
‘Zhoghovurd’ writes that member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) Tigran Arakelian who has already spent two years in prison may be released soon. HAK deputy chairman Levon Zurabian has filed a letter-guarantee to Judge Eva Darbinian. The letter was also signed by a number of art workers, journalists, public figures as well as the chairman of Free Democrats Party Khachatur Kokobelian.
According to the paper, a political decision about Tigran Arakelian’s release has already been taken. He will be set free under an amnesty to be declared in connection with Armenia’s Independence Day on September 21. President Serzh Sargsyan also mentioned that at the ‘closed’ meeting with reporters.
