Egyptian security forces clash with armed groups near Cairo
Egyptian security forces fired tear gas and exchanged gunfire with armed groups in Kerdasah district on the outskirts of Cairo on Thursday, state TV reported, according to Reuters.
Security troops stormed into the area to arrest people accused of torching police stations and killing about 11 security officers in clashes that erupted following the army's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi last July. Police forces were not allowed in Kerdasah since then.
