Armenian Ombudsman Office assigned ‘A’ highest accreditation status
The Office of Armenian Ombudsman Karen Andreasian was officially informed recently that the Bureau of the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions assigned ‘A’ highest accreditation status to Armenian Ombudsman Office. This status is assigned to those ombudsmen who are independent, impartial and display skills in efficient examination and solution of problems, the Armenian Ombudsman Office said.
Over the past two years the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions has studied the activities of the Armenian Ombudsman Office and came to the conclusion that it acts in accordance with the Paris Principles and meets all the standards, based on which the highest status is assigned.
The fact that Armenian Ombudsman Office received ‘A’ status has enhanced the prestige of both the Ombudsman and Armenia on the international arena. Such ombudsmen have the right to make speeches in the UN and other authoritative international structures and voice human rights issues from rostrums of those organizations.
