Single investigative body to be set up in Armenia
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed today a decree on the creation of a commission on legal ensuring of the establishment of the Single Investigative Body.
The decision has been taken with the aim of setting up a single investigative body on the basis of the investigative bodies operating at the Defense Ministry, the Armenian Police, and the State Revenue Committee. The purpose is also to increase the efficiency of preliminary investigation of criminal cases and strengthen the independence of the investigative bodies.
The commission will develop the necessary draft laws and submit them to Armenian President’s Staff.
The former Prosecutor General of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepian was appointed the commission’s chairman.
