Reserve colonel Volodya Avetisian charged with fraud
Reserve Colonel Volodya Avetisian has been charged under the RA Criminal Code’s Article 178 part 2 point 2 (fraud), with arrest being chosen as a measure of restraint against him, PastInfo news agency was informed by Mary Sargsyan, a senior officer of Armenian Defense Ministry’s Investigation Service.
According to investigators, V. Avetiian took $2,000 from citizen Zakarian on the pretext of helping him to exempt his grandson from compulsory military service.
The investigatory body also ‘declassified’ the information on the date of Avetisan’s crime. Investigators said it was committed on August 13, 2013. During a talk with the correspondent of PastInfo, the colonel’s lawyer Ara Zakarian didn’t rule out that the offence Volodya Avetisian charged with is related to the protests organized by him.
An investigation is underway.
