Zhoghovurd: Russia wants to speed up Armenia’s entry into CU

‘Zhoghovurd’ writes citing its sources that on his return from Sochi, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan gave instructions to set up urgently a group of knowledgeable economists and businessmen to be sent to Moscow for examination of Armenia’s possible risks in case of its entry into the Customs Union.

Led by Arsen Ghazarian - Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Armenia, the group will travel today to Moscow where they together with the chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board and Russian experts will discuss the mechanisms of operating a common customs zone with Armenia in the absence of a common border.

“Given the fact that the group has been set up so urgently, one can suppose that Russians want to finish the process of Armenia’s joining the Customs Union as soon as possible,” the paper notes.
