Zhoghovurd: Former building of Defense Ministry put up for sale
‘Zhoghovurd’ writes citing its sources that the former building of Armenian Defense Ministry has been put up for sale. The paper says the building is in a dilapidated state.
Located at Yerevan-Ashtarak Highway, the former building of the ministry is surrounded by numerous casinos. The daily’s correspondent recently visited the building and saw a sorry sight: all windows are broken and the place is littered with trash.
“No repairs have been done in the building for years on end, due to which it is completely dilapidated. It is unclear why the structure is in such a state. The building, which became a symbol after the Karabakh war, could have been used as a unit of the Defense Ministry,” the paper notes.
The paper’s correspondent was informed by the press service of the Defense Ministry that the building has been put up for sale. Its cost is 4 billion 600 million drams. Only two buyers have shown interest so far, but they declined to purchase it after seeing its current condition.
“In any civilized country, if a large structure stops serving its purpose, it is not consigned to limbo, but the situation is different in Armenia,” the paper says.
