Prime minister: 15-20% growth recorded in IT sector
In parallel with DigiTec Expo 2013, the ArmTec forum started in Yerevan today. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan made a speech of welcome at the forum.
He said the last meeting in the Silicon Valley provided an opportunity to speak about the achievements of the sector and outline further steps.
In his words, the private sector asked the government to keep the educational system at the center of attention, to improve it continuously and provide the IT sector with skilled specialists.
15-20% growth has been recorded in the IT sector. There are about 300 IT enterprises employing a total of 7,000 specialists. “Our medium-term target is 2,000 specialists a year,” the prime minister said.
According to him, another goal is to improve the quality of IT specialists. The sector cooperates with international organizations that provide training and retraining of IT employees.
