New details in Harsnakar case: Avetian was beaten by N. Hayrapetian

The court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Avan and Nor-Nork administrative districts today held a hearing of the Harsnakar restaurant incident, during which the defense was to make a speech, but defendant Norayr Hayrapetian told the court that he wanted to give additional testimony.

N. Hayrapetian declared that he inflicted injuries on Vahe Avetian as they argued.

We would remind you that on June 17, 2012, several military doctors were beaten up in Harsnakar restaurant complex in Yerevan. One of the doctors – 36-year-old Major Vahe Avetian, the head of the ENT unit of Armenian Defense Ministry’s Military Hospital, died on June 29 without regaining consciousness.

Six men were arrested in the criminal case: Arman Khachatrian, Norayr Hayrapetian, Garik Margarian, Arman Baghdasarian, David Adamian, and Arthur Babloyan. They were charged with beating Vahe Avetian, Artak Bayadian, Garik Soghomonian, Arkady Aghajanian, and Edgar Nikoyan.

The court examination of the case is continuing.
