Haykakan Zhamanak: Authorities plan a grand show

‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ writes citing its sources that the political elite plan a grand show in connection with the increase in salaries of high-raking officials on July 1, 2014. According to the daily, the prime minister will perform the leading role.

“By the draft laws already submitted to the National Assembly, the salaries of high-ranking officials of the executive, legislative and judicial branches as well as parliamentary deputies shall considerably increase on July 1. Yet according to the scenario being discussed now, by that time Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan will make a proposal not to raise the salaries of the prime minister and ministers. Then the parliamentary speaker Hovik Abrahamian or a deputy of the Republican Party of Armenia faction will ‘pick up the baton’ and propose that salaries of the National Assembly heads and deputies should not be raised either,” the daily writes.
