Armenian president awards Medal of Honor to Raimonds Pauls
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today the famous Latvian composer and pianist, People’s Artist of the USSR Raimonds Pauls, the presidential press service said.
The president welcomed the visit of Mr. Pauls to Armenia. He highly appreciated the composer’s selfless activities in culture, noting that millions of people, including numerous Armenians, were for decades brought up on the music written by Raimonds Pauls. Today they also treat the famous musician with warmth and were impressed by his concert in Yerevan.
During the meeting Serzh Sargsyan presented the Medal of Honor to Raimonds Pauls for his contribution to the development of Armenian-Latvian ties and his significant contribution to music. The president congratulated the Latvian composer on the reception of the high award of the Republic of Armenia and wished him new creative achievements.
