Tigran Arakelian released under amnesty
The court today has sustained partially the claim of Armenian National Congress (HAK) activist Tigran Arakelian and released him under the amnesty.
Sargis Gevorgian and David Kiramajian received two years in prison each, but the court decided not to apply the sentence conditionally. Artak Karapetian was also freed under the amnesty.
Sargis Gevorgian told the correspondent of Aysor.am that they are going to appeal against the decision to courts of various levels, Including the European Court of Human Rights. He noted they are not satisfied with the decision, even though they expected it.
Let us remind you that Tigran Arakelian was sentenced to 6 years in prison, Artak Karapetian – to 3 years, while Sargis Gevorgian and David Kiramijian got two years in prison each. The Court of Appeals left the ruling unchanged and the lawyers of HAK activists appealed it to the Cassation Court.
