Armenian advocates stage protest against draft laws of Justice Ministry
The Chamber of Advocates of Armenia is staging a protest against legislative initiatives of Justice Ministry. In this connection the Chamber of Advocates issued a statement, saying that advocates are opposed to Justice Ministry’s draft laws envisaging the introduction of a state register of advocates and a state duty of 60 thousand drams for inclusion in that register.
The statement was posted on Facebook page of the Chamber of Advocates. A number of advocates, including Karen Mezhlumian, Vahagn Mnatsakanian, Apetnak Poghosian, Narine Rshtuni, Alexander Sirunian, and others have joined the protest action. Let us remind you that based on the draft laws submitted by Justice Ministry, amendments will be made to the Law on Advocacy and the Law on State Duty, as a result of which a new procedure of keeping the state register of advocates will be established. Advocates shall pay an annual state duty of 60,000 AMD for being included in the state register.
