Zhoghovurd: Three Armenian manuscripts put up for auction in US
‘Zhoghovurd’ paper says that someone from the U.S. has put three Armenian manuscripts up for action on liveauctioneers.com. To judge by the photos on the website, all the three manuscripts are full and in a good state of preservation. They date to 1500-1600. The starting price of two manuscripts is $4,000, and that of the third one is $5,000. The action will be held on October 17.
The paper’s correspondent asked yesterday employees of the Matenadaran whether they are aware of these manuscripts, and if so, whether the Matenadaran intends to buy the manuscripts and prevent them from being purchased by unknown persons. There was no response.
“They told our correspondent that director of the Matenadaran, Hrachia Tamrazian, has just returned from France and that they will inform him later,” ‘Zhoghovurd’ writes.
