Karo Yeghnukian’s application rejected due to insufficient grounds
Karo Yeghnukian filed an application to the Kentron police unit on September 9, 2013, asking the police to ensure the security of his family and his own security. He said that his photo with words “Mason. No to hired opponents, no to foreign spies and grant eaters! You are against creation of 700 jobs” was posted to the front wall of the Closed Market in downtown Yerevan. Besides, according to Yeghnukian, on September 5 unknown persons beat up two men - Suren Saghatelian and Haykak Arshamian who were mistaken for him.
The police examined the application and came to the conclusion that the grounds indicated in it are not sufficient for taking protective measures – under Article 98 of the Criminal Procedure Code, such measures are taken to protect a person who has important information leading to solution of a crime and capture of the criminal who committed that crime. During the investigation into the criminal case, Yegnukian didn’t provide such information so his application has been rejected.
