Budaghian’s lawyer didn’t see yet new video of Goris incident
Hayk Alumian, the lawyer of Artak Buidaghian, has not yet seen the recently posted new video of the shooting incident outside the house of ex-governor of Syunik province Suren Khachatrian. The correspondent of Aysor.am learned this from lawyer Hayk Alumian.
“I didn’t see the new footage so I cannot comment,” Alumian said. In his words, in reality there is a video of the shooting captured by four different cameras.
During the talk with Aysor.am, Arayik Budaghian also said he hasn’t seen the video. “It is the first time I am hearing about it - from you,” he noted.
It should be mentioned that a new video of the events outside Suren Khachatrian’s house was posted on the site of Journalists for Human Rights NGO that said: “We offer to the reader’s attention a new video of the bloody incident that occurred near the house of Suren Khachatrian, the ex-governor of Syunik province. Immediately after the incident, Khachatrian’s supporters and law enforcers backing him disseminated a distorted, edited video, which could raise the public’s questions concerning the circumstances of those developments”.
Let us remind you that former Goris mayoral candidate Avetik Budaghian died in the June1 shootout near Suren Khachatrian’s house in the city of Goris. His brother, a military unit commander Artak Budaghian suffered a severe gunshot wound and was taken to a military hospital. One of the governor’s bodyguards, Nikolai Abrahamian was also hospitalized. The Syunik governor’s son Tigran Khachatrian and another bodyguard, Zarzand Nikoghosian, were arrested on suspicion of murder.
On June 3 Tigran Khachatrian and Zarzand Nikoghosian were charged under Article 104 part 2 point 6 and Article 235 part 1 of the Criminal Code. The Syunik regional court of general jurisdiction chose two months’ arrest as a measure of restraint against T. Khachatrian and Z. Nikoghosian.
On September 7 the Investigative Service of Armenian Defense Ministry decided to terminate the criminal proceedings against the Syunik ex-governor’s son and bodyguard.
According to the press service of Defense Ministry’s Investigative Service, as a result of an objective and comprehensive examination of the collected materials and an analysis and comparison of the evidence, a decision was made to revoke the measure of restraint against Tigran Khachatrian and Zarzand Nikoghosian and terminate the criminal proceedings as their actions had all elements of the necessary defense.
