Yuri Vardanian’s son detained on suspicion of drug trafficking
‘Zhoghovurd’ daily writes citing its sources that about a week ago the eldest son of Armenian Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Yuri Vardanian was detained at the Iranian-Armenian border.
According to the paper, the minister’s son tried to smuggle drugs across the border. He concealed the drugs in various parts of his body, but was caught. Policemen of the city of Kapan detained Vardanian and the investigation of the case was transferred to Yerevan.
The paper says that in order to avoid public attention and criticism, Yuri Vardanian tries not to ‘intervene’ in the incident.
‘Yesterday we tried to clarify the information by applying to spokeswoman for the sport and youth affairs minister, but she said she had no information. ‘The minister is busy. He had meetings so I couldn’t clarify anything from him”. “The Armenian police didn’t provide any information either,” ‘Zhoghovurd’ says.
