Syunik ex-governor appears in court
Former governor of Syunik province, Surik Khachatrian, appeared in court. He stated his passport data and said that Martin Zilfugharian has authority to represent his interests. Khachatrian explained the discrepancy in the numbers in a copy of his passport by the fact that he has changed his passport, according to PastInfo news agency.
Martin Zilfugharian petitioned the court to consider the name ‘Surik Khachatrian’ (instead of Suren Khachatrian, as was indicated in the statement of claim) as the plaintiff’s name.
According to the defendant - Samvel Harutyunian’s representative Mushegh Shushanian, the statement of claim was accepted for court examination in violation of requirements of the law: the plaintiff’s middle name was not indicated in it, and secondly, the plaintiff is Suren Khachatrian, whereas the person who gave a power of attorney to representative Martin Zilfugharian was Surik Khachatrian. In the opinion of Shushanian, the aforesaid is a sufficient cause to return the statement of claim.
The court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Ajapniak and Davitashen administrative districts chaired by Judge Ani Mkhitarian made a decision about replacement of the improper document by a proper one. After the inaccuracies were clarified, S. Khachatrian left the courtroom, once again authorizing his representative to represent his interests in court.
We would remind you that the ex-governor of Syunik province filed a suit in connection with the article “He shot his pregnant mistress and killed unborn child” published in the June 12, 2013 issue of Aravot paper. According to the plaintiff, the information about the murder and the infliction of severe injuries is libel. He seeks 1.5 million AMD as compensation for damage.
