ArmenTel fined 20 million AMD: Orange helps VivaCell
Orange Armenia Company complained to the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, saying that ‘Simpler than Simple’ tariff plan recently launched by ArmenTel CJSC is a copy of ‘Simple’ tariff plan of Orange. According to Orange, it has exclusive rights to ‘Simple’ name.
Besides, Orange Company accused ArmenTel of unfair advertising. An advertisement of ArmenTel shows red and orange balls on a billiard table eventually falling into pockets, implying that the orange ball is Orange and the red one is VivaCell Company and that these companies are defeated, falling into pockets.
ArmenTel didn’t provide any well-founded explanations regarding the issue.
The Commission decided to impose a fine of 20 million AMD on ArmenTel. Commission chairman Artak Shaboyan said that ArmenTel attracted their attention in the past as well.
