Hraparak: Hovik Abrahamian tries to persuade Tsarukian
According to ‘Hraparak’ paper, it is not ruled out that Samvel Barseghian, Prosperous Armenia Party’s (BHK) candidate running in early mayoral elections in the city of Ararat, will withdraw his candidacy.
“The parliamentary speaker Hovik Abrahamian deals with the issue. He is trying to persuade his in-law, BHK leader Gagik Tsarukian to withdraw their candidate. The fact is that Hovik Abrahamian’s nephew Arsen Abrahamian is the police chief of that region and if a political decision is taken to find and convict persons distributing election bribes, his nephew will have to act, otherwise he will lose his job, especially as the Armenian Police Chief Vladimir Gasparian strictly warned that no one will ‘distribute’ anything. According to our sources, Gagik Tsarukian recently went to Ararat region and met with local leaders, but the question remains open. Tsarukian’s spokeswoman Iveta Tonoyan said, however, that BHK nominee will not withdraw his candidacy,” the paper says.
