Armenian president receives legendary athlete Sergei Bubka
President Serzh Sargsyan received today a delegation of heads of the International Athletics Federation and the Association of Balkan Athletics Federation, led by legendary pole vaulter, Vice President of the International Association of the Athletics Federations Sergei Bubka.
The meeting participants arrived in Armenia to attend an October 27-30 event to summarize the sports achievements of the federations included in the Association of Balkan Athletics Federations, the presidential press service said.
Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the guests, stressing the importance of establishing contacts with well-known sportsmen and holding events aimed at developing athletics as a sport.
Sergei Bubka and the heads of the athletics federations informed the president about the activities and further plans of the Association of Balkan Athletics Federations. They expressed willingness to assist Armenia’s Athletics Federation with the aim of developing this kind of sport in the country.
