Zhoghovurd: PM just realized inefficiency of unemployment benefits
Presenting the 2014 draft state budget in the parliament recently, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan declared that 94% of unemployment benefits did not serve their purpose and were paid mainly to well-off people. ‘Zhoghovurd’ daily asked the prime minister yesterday why the crime was not prevented years ago.
“The previous system assumed that a well-off person might come and receive money from the state, whereas now we say that we change the program as we consider it inefficient”. In other words, over this period of time (since 2006) the prime minister never inquired about the program’s efficiency and he just realized that the system is useless. It is noteworthy that on March 3, 2011, the government led by Tigran Sargsyan didn’t hold such an opinion about the system as the unemployment benefit was raised to 18,000 AMD by the government decision # 196-N.
