Yet another chess school opens in Yerevan
Yerevan Mayor Taron Margarian attended today the opening ceremony of the new chess school adjunct to secondary school #185 in Ajapniak administrative district of the city, according to the press service of Yerevan Municipality.
90 pupils of the Ajapniak sports school’s chess groups will have the opportunity to be trained here. Another 200 kids included in the waiting list will also become pupils of the chess school soon. Accompanied by the director of Armenia’s Chess Academy Smbat Lputian and officials of Ajapniak administrative district, the mayor toured the building, familiarizing himself with the conditions and talking to children.
Taron Margarian told reporters that chess schools will be founded in all administrative districts of Yerevan, thanks to cooperation of the Yerevan Municipality and Armenia’s Chess Academy. ‘When we have such schools in 12 administrative districts, some 3,000 children will attend these schools free of charge and learn to play chess,” the mayor said.
