Tigran Sargsyan: Armenia’s exports to Belarus grew 15%
Prior to the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Saint Petersburg today, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich.
T. Sargsyan noted with satisfaction that the agreements reached at the previous meeting with Belarusian counterpart have been implemented. In his words, the import of Belarus agricultural machinery caused great enthusiasm of Armenian farmers who received the opportunity to purchase high-quality machinery at affordable prices, the press office of the Armenian government said.
M. Myasnikovich said for his part he is also satisfied with the results of the agreements’ implementation. The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues relating to bilateral cooperation.
When speaking about the bilateral trade and economic relations of Armenia and Belarus, Tigran Sargsyan said that Armenia’s exports to Belarus grew by 15% in the first nine months of 2013 as compared with the same period of last year.
The two prime ministers underlined the importance of further increasing bilateral trade, noting that there is much potential for that.
The sides also discussed Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union. Mikhail Myasnikovich welcomed Armenia’s initiative to join the Customs Union. He said the Belarusian side supports Armenia’s efforts in that direction.
