Armenian president visits Museum of Literature and Art

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited today the Museum of Literature and Art after Yeghishe Charents where a new exhibition has opened, according to the presidential press service.

Accompanied by Museum Director Karo Vardanian, the president familiarized himself with the exhibits, which date back to 18-20 centuries and are related to Armenian literature, dramatic art, cinema, and music.

S. Sargsyan presented the Movses Khorenatsi Medal to German art expert Volkmar Gantzhorn for his significant contribution to international promotion of the Armenian art of carpet making. V. Gantzhorn has arrived in Armenia for the presentation of the Armenian translation of his book “Oriental Carpets: Their Inconology and Iconography from Earliest Times to the 18th Century”.

A consultation will be held with officials of the Culture Ministry following the president’s visit to the Museum.
