Economist: Many object to pension model due to lack of trust
The accumulative pension system has been introduced in dozens of countries and produced its results, but not every model is acceptable to society of a country, economist Tatul Manaserian said at a meeting with journalists today.
“When the matter concerns a minimum wage, which does not allow people to meet even the minimum needs, in this case a 5% deduction for the pension fund is a large sum,” Manaserian said.
In his words, a 5% deduction is a small sum for those who receive a wage of a million drams. “People who protest today are those in a difficult social situation,” he noted, adding that if society is revolting, the state must take society’s opinion into account.
He also indicated the lack of trust, noting that many object to the pension model because they don’t trust the government.
