Yura Movsisyan undergoes knee operation in US
Forward of Armenia' national team and Spartak Moscow, Yura Movsisyan has undergone successful surgery on his right knee in a Los Angeles clinic, his club Spartak Moscow said on Thursday.
Two weeks ago, the Armenian-American forward aggravated an old meniscus injury after scoring a hat-trick in the 4-2 win over Zenit St. Petersburg.
Nevertheless, coach Valery Karpin decided to deploy the striker for Saturday’s heated clash against CSKA Moscow, where Movsisyan couldn't help Spartak avoid a 1-0 defeat.
“Surgery on my knee was completed successfully today. ... Thank you all for the kind wishes and prayers,” said Movsisyan, who is tied on 12 goals with FC Rostov striker Artem Dzyuba, on Twitter.
The 26-year-old will miss the last two games of the year and will only be able to return after the winter break in March.
