Sargsyan: Rosneft Company enters Armenian market
“We live in a fast changing world. New approaches are constantly needed and it is easier to find them jointly, within the framework of integration unions and processes. This circumstance conditioned Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Today’s forum is dedicated to this subject,” Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated at the 3rd Armenian-Russian interregional forum held in Gyumri during the Russian president’s visit to Armenia, according to the presidential press service.
S. Sargsyan said that only three months have passed since the announcement of Armenia’s intention to join the Customs Union, but enormous work has already been done.
“The respective decision of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council was taken. The memorandum between the Armenian government and the Eurasian Economic Commission was signed. 22 working groups were set up and they are now preparing the necessary measures and legislative amendments. The mechanisms of applying bilaterally to Armenia a number of important privileges and advantages used in mutual relations of the Customs Union countries have already been reconciled. I would like to thank Russian President Vladimir Putin for that – it is a step of a true partner and friend. It is crucial for maintaining the viability of Armenia’s economy. Thank you very much!” Serzh Sargsyan said.
In his words, Armenian-Russian economic cooperation of a new level is aimed at complementing the current level of the political dialog and strategic partnership between our countries and it has huge potential for both Armenia and Russia.
“Armenia has achieved significant results in business administration reforms. During this visit, an agreement on entrance of the Russian petroleum industry leader - Rosneft OJSC into the Armenian market will be signed. I am convinced that the Program of Long-term Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Russia through 2020, which was approved by our governments, will also promote the trade and economic links,” the Armenian president stressed.
