Armenian drug makers report 25% growth in production and sales
Armenia’s drug imports amounted to $86 million in January-October 2013 as compared with $80 million in the same period of last year, the Armenian health minister’s advisor Ghukas Urikhanian said at a press conference today.
According to him, Armenian pharmaceutical companies manufactured and sold drugs of $10 million in January-October, including sales of $4.6 million in Armenia, $3.6 million in CIS countries and $1.8 million in other countries. The index increased by 25% compared with 2012.
4,500 drugs are registered in Armenia, with 387 being included in the main list. 624 drugs are available without a prescription. 17 pharmaceutical companies operate in Armenia. There are about 60 drug importers and 8 drugstore chains.
