Joe Jonas talks sex, drugs, Disney

Now that the Jonas Brothers have officially split, one bandmate is telling all.

Joe Jonas didn't hold back in an essay he authored for New York Magazine. In "Joe Jonas: My Life As a Jonas Brother," Jonas, 24, talks about his journey from growing up as a pastor's kid to being in one of the hottest boy bands — and everything that came with being so famous at such a young age.

An especially juicy tidbit is the one in which he describes smoking weed for the first time — he says he was under peer pressure from Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato. Jonas, who says he was 17 or 18 at the time, writes: "They kept saying, 'Try it! Try it!' so I gave it a shot, and it was all right. I don't even smoke weed that often anymore." His tastes have evolved: "Now I appreciate wine or a vodka-soda at the end of the day every once in a while."

And while Disney may have launched his career, Jonas doesn't mince words when it comes to the company. Jonas says there was immense pressure to maintain a squeaky-clean image and the brothers were given lots of media training. "They'd teach you how to change the subject, whenever you were asked an uncomfortable question, by saying something like, 'Oh, that reminds me of my dog! I have a great story about my dog!' Playing dumb is the best way of getting out of anything."

When their Disney show finally ended, he was quick to cut his moppy hair and grow a beard. "Being a part of the Disney thing for so long will make you not want to be this perfect little puppet forever."

As for those purity rings, Jonas says he lost his virginity at age 20.
