Russian press on Putin visit: Russia reciprocated Armenia’s feelings
The Russian press discussed today President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Armenia on December 2.
‘Kommersant’ daily writes that yesterday Vladimir Putin visited Armenia where he met with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. “The two-day program of V. Putin’s visit was completed in one day. In the afternoon Mr. Sargsyan confirmed Armenia’s intention to join the Customs Union, while in the evening Mr. Putin announced abolition of 35% duty on oil products for Armenia in order to ensure its smooth entry into the Customs Union,” the paper says.
‘Vedomosti’ notes that during his visit the Russian president hailed Armenia’s upcoming entry into the Customs Union. “President Putin paid a visit to Armenia yesterday. In Gyumri he along with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan delivered a speech at a bilateral interregional forum, visited the Russian 102nd military base and then conducted talks with Sargsyan in Yerevan,” the paper writes.
‘Rossiyskaya Gazeta’ reports that Armenia will get discounts on Russian energy resources. Vladimir Putin said during his yesterday’s visit to Yerevan that Armenia will purchase Russian oil, gas, and arms at reduced prices.
‘Izvestiya’ says that “Russia reciprocated Armenia’s feelings”. “Moscow gives privileges to Yerevan for its intention to join the Customs Union. Vladimir Putin paid a state visit to Armenia. Such status of visiting a country presupposes a large program. Putin’s plane landed at the airport of Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia. Presidents Vladimir Putin and Serzh Sargsyan attended a Russian-Armenian regional forum and visited the Russian military base,” the paper writes.
