NKR president convenes Security Council meeting

A meeting of the Security Council of Nagorno Karabakh Republic was held on December 9. Issues related to Telethon 2013 and the draft concept of ensuring food security of the NKR were discussed at the meeting chaired by NKR President Bako Sahakian.

Bako Sahakian spoke about the telethon results and gave instructions to the government regarding the construction of Vardenis-Martakert motorway, the press service of the NKR President’s Office said.

Reports on the food security concept were made by the NKR prime minister, deputy prime minister, agriculture minister, and the head of the National Statistical Service.

The president called food security an essential component of the republic’s security, stressing that ensuring food security is especially important for Artsakh, given a number of military-political factors.

President Sahakian approved the draft concept of ensuring food security. He instructed the Security Council’s secretary to start the confirmation of the document in the prescribed manner.
