Larisa Alaverdian: Authorities use policemen
The problem of bribery in the Armenian ombudsman’s report was presented on the basis of enough facts and the document caused discontent of those against whom it was directed, former Ombudswoman of Armenia Larisa Alaverdian told reporters today.
According to her, the majority of Armenian citizens consider the country’s court system to be corrupt.
“Activities of the Ombudsman Office are becoming more systematic, but it needs to be assisted for its full establishment,” L. Alaverdian noted.
In her words, dispersal of peaceful protests by the police has already become a tradition.
“In this case I protect the rights of policemen because the authorities are using them as a cover of their policy,” Larisa Alaverdian said.
