Gagik Makarian: ArmRosGazprom throws obstacles in businesses’ way

If an employee of ArmRosGazprom (ARG) Company fails to understand that he creates an emergency situation, he should not work in the system, but if he does it intentionally, then he is a criminal. Chairman of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia Gagik Makarian expressed such an opinion at a meeting with journalists today, when commenting on the dangerous situation at Alishan cannery due to the increased pressure in the natural gas supply system.

After the gas pressure was increased from 40 to 300 at Alishan canning plant, there was a dangerous situation and an explosion was prevented only thanks to plant employees.

Makarian said that supervisory bodies usually throw obstacles in businesses’ way, but in this case ArmRosGazprom assumed that role. It took advantage of its dominant position in the market, overstepping the limits.

He said that the incident should be seriously discussed by the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia. In his words, ARG employees visit consumers on nonworking days and holidays, disturbing them. This problem should also be addressed, the union chairman said.
