Stepan Margarian: Armenia receives expensive gas

The gas agreements with Russia ignore all Armenian laws, the Armenian parliamentary deputy, ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Party member Artsvik Minasian said.

“I have not seen other agreements, under which Armenia would renounce all immunities granted by international law, but Armenia renounced them in this agreement. It would be honest if the government simply gave 20% of ArmRosGazprom’s shares as a present to Russia instead of signing such an agreement,” he said.

Deputy of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) faction Stepan Margarian said for his part that the gas price for Armenia is not as low as is declared.

“For example, in Georgia the gas price for the final consumer is $269 per 1,000 cubic meters, while in Armenia it is $400. So I cannot understand statements about cheap gas supplied to Armenia. We receive quite expensive gas which is comparable with European prices,” Margarian said.
