Lavrov sends potatoes presented by John Kerry for experimental cultivation
Experts from the Krasnodar region are examining potatoes from the American state of Idaho brought by US State Secretary John Kerry as a present for Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the Voice of Russia reports.
Kerry presented the potatoes to Lavrov during talks in Paris on January 13. He explained that he had communicated a lot with Lavrov over the Christmas holidays and promised him to bring potatoes from Idaho. According to Kerry, the Russian Foreign Minister assured him vodka wouldn’t be made of these potatoes.
Sergei Lavrov told that the potatoes have a specific form. "It can be used instead of whip in the Russian expression "whip and gingerbread" which correlates to the English expression "carrot and stick.” We can easily replace carrot by potato," a Russian news agency quotes Lavrov as saying.
