Ex-ambassador of Ukraine apologizes for Nikoyan’s death in Kiev
Ex-ambassador of Ukraine to Armenia Alexander Bozhko made a note on his Facebook page in connection with the death of 20-year-old Sergei Nikoyan in Kiev.
We would remind you that the young man, who was killed on Grushevsky Street in Kiev, has been identified today. According to ‘Ukrainskaya Pravda’, the young man was Sergei Nikoyan, an active participant of EvroMaydan. The source said that he received two gunshot wounds – to the head and the neck. The Ukrainian mass media also reported that Nikoyan was born in Ukraine and resided in Dnepropetrovsk. He joined rally participants on December 8 of last year.
Alexander Bozhko expressed his regret over S. Nikoyan’s death which he called ‘heroic’.
“The mean bullet chooses the best people in Karabakh mountains as well as in Kiev. Sergei jan, forgive my sinful Ukraine which has not yet become a humane state and for that reason it could not save you. Your heroic blood was spilled for such humanism… Eternal glory to you and those who died together with you,” the former diplomat wrote.
Clashes broke out on January 19 between the police and protesters in downtown Kiev, near the government neighborhood on Grushevsky Street. Some of the protesters tried to break through a police cordon set up outside the government building. Several police buses were set on fire, dozens of people suffered in clashes.
