Criminal case opened against 12 activists of HAK
A criminal case has been opened against Armenian National Congress’s (HAK) 12 activists who were detained on Mashtots Avenue in Yerevan on February 12, the Armenian police said.
“Around 6:15 pm on February 12 a group of people committed hooliganism near building # 7/1 on Mashtots Avenue, blatantly disrupting public order, showing an obviously disrespectful attitude towards passers-by and using violence against each other.
In connection with the incident, the central investigative unit of the Main Investigation Department of the Police on February 13 opened a criminal case under the Criminal Code’s Article 258 part 3 point 1 (hooliganism committed by a group of people) and an investigation is underway.
As regards reporter Ani Gevorgian’s claim that illegal actions were committed against her in the Kentron police unit, an internal investigation will be conducted by an order of the Armenian police chief,’ the police said in a statement.
